Halfway mark for ESTABLIS: Mid-term review and two workshops on the way

Almost Ready!!!

UPPA is glad to welcome Establis for its sixth and seventh workshop focused on Industrial Rheology (18 and 19 november) and Public Outreach (21 and 22 november) and for the Mid-Term Review (20 november). The events will be held in various bulding of the UPPA Campus.

Less than a week to the Establis meeting in Pau, once again after the Project kick off at the beginning of 2012. This time all the Establis members get together for the Mid-Term Review and for two workshops, one on Industrial Rheology and the other on Public Outreach. All the team in Pau has worked and is still working hard to welcome all the fellows, the supervisors, the co-supervisors, the partner leaders, the work-package leaders and the representatives of the EU.

The workshops will allow the participants to get acquainted to many experimental techniques for rheological measurements (micro-balance, surface wetting, measuring Tack, AFM) through seminars and practical lab-works and it will be the occasion for a further theoretical and practical training on scientific communication, through lectures held by experts in the field and the precious partnership of the Lycée St Cricq in Pau.

Pau is a commune on the northern edge of the Pyrenees, capital of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in France. The main attraction are Place Clemenceau (the heart of the downtown area, site of many public festivals, great shopping and a beautiful fountain), the Château de Pau (that dominates the city center, birthplace of Henry IV) and the Boulevard des Pyrénées that run for 1.8 km from the Château to the Parc Beaumont, with a wonderful views of the Pyrenees, that Alphonse de Lamartine described with these words: "Pau has the world's most beautiful view of the earth just as Naples has the most beautiful view of the sea."

The University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour (L'Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour or UPPA, 12,000 students) was founded in 1972. It is a multi-site establishment, based in Pau but also in Bayonne, Anglet, Tarbes and Mont-de-Marsan in the Adour river basin. The University's logo is a stylised representation of the Pyrénées or the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, the blue triangle being the Atlantic ocean. The colors used (yellow, green blue) are those of the university's graphic charter.

Organize all of this at the same time require a considerable effort and a special thanks is due to our Project Manager Mélanie and to our Project Leader Roger.

Waiting for all of you in Pau
